And…. winter is here

Wednesday, April 6th, 2011

I love, love, LOVE winter.

Cold, grey, rainy days are just my best days ever.

Today is day 2 of a lovely cold spell. Every other time over the last month when I’ve got my hopes up, the cold has lasted only a day so I think it autumn might actually be here to stay.

And I’m smiling.

Aside from all the soup, hot mugs of tea, warm casseroles, curries, jackets, gloves and scarves and all the other good things that come along with winter, I simply am more energised.

I become more creative, more enthusiastic, more passionate the colder it becomes. I also enjoy cooking and baking, and trying out new recipes.

But everybody is not like me and that’s okay.

One way isn’t better than another; it’s just different.

The trick is to know your energy triggers and play to them.

Knowing that I’m more energetic during cooler weather, I purposefully plan to do nesting-type work in the colder months.

In years past, I’d develop content for e-books, teleseminars, workshops, etc. aside from coaching clients. This winter I’m going to write a book.

When are you most energetic?

If you’re like me, what are you going to do during the cooler months?

Question of the week about after-supper laziness

Sunday, February 13th, 2011

I had a great question from a reader about after-supper laziness.

I am honestly not the best person to ask about this since I count down the hours til I can sit after running around the whole day.

But I will say this -

I pack my lunch and the children’s food while I’m preparing supper since I can guarantee my energy will be 50% less after we eat.

I like to plan my day/ evening so that I only have low-key activities after supper, like computer work, so that I can be “lazy” with a clear conscience.

But if I do need to get some things done, I make a list because not much in life motivates me as much as crossing things off a list :)

Confession – this year I actually have a “reading night” on my weekly goals list because it’s that hard for me to relax and do “nothing”.

Now over all you clever (and normal) people…

How do you combat after-supper laziness?

spring

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

I blog-surfed a little today and noticed a couple of people say they were in a bit of a funk.

I’ve also been a bit lazy *yawn* but I know exactly what’s brought mine on.

SPRING!

I love cold weather – winter’s my absolute favourite season – and am totally energised by the cold. I love dressing up warm, drinking endless cups of tea, my electric blanket, warm bed, reading, hot chocolate, creamy plates of pasta, etc, etc. I can go on and on and on.

On the business side, I also tend to have TONS of new ideas for JV’s, ebooks, products, etc. It’s like my creative side awakens!

When it starts warming up, though, I have to really gear myself up to do anything because the heat saps my energy.

And this year it’s been particularly bad.

Last week we had temperatures going from about 20 to 25 degrees Celsius which is okay for spring.

This week it’s gone right up into the 30′s. Which is really typical Jhb weather – extreme and annoying!!!

Hopefully I’ll get acclimated soon because I can’t just lie around in flip-flops drinking endless glasses of water with lemon. Well, technically I can ;)

So tell me, which is your favourite season and why?
