Pregnancy update

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

I’ve had so many “behind the scenes” emails asking about my pregnancy so I thought I’d do a quick update.

By the way, the reason I didn’t update sooner is because I thought, “well who on earth would be interested in reading about my life?”

So for those of you who are interested, have a read here.

If you’ve anymore questions, let me know and I’ll answer them. I do need to do a Baby Organising post again soon – will take pictures during the next week and get that up.

7 things you may not know about me

Friday, December 12th, 2008

People, I’m feeling the pressure.

I don’t like things on my to-do list and yet both Eva and Suzanne tagged me to share 7 things you may not know about me

As we say in South Africa, eish!

Okay, let’s get to it!

  1. I hate, hate, hate doing laundry! Drives me absolutely batty. I think it’s because it’s never DONE!
  2. I have never had a traffic fine. Well, I have had one, but it was a mistake as it was not my car in the picture they sent me. You’ll know what a miracle this is if you’ve ever driven with me LOL
  3. My husband and I first met when he asked me to dance for him (ballet). Yes, I also thought he was a weirdo and of course said no! Which made me irresistible to him :)
  4. For the first time in my entire working life, I’m at an absolute low, work-wise. All prayers very welcome!
  5. I’m a BIG Michael Connelly fan and I’ve met him at an author reading/ signing. Very embarrassing moment for me.
  6. I do NOT have it all together. In fact, the reason I’m a time management coach today is because I was so shockingly bad at managing my time, learnt the lessons through trial and error and now I’m out on the other side!
  7. I am very lazy and love sleeping. If I could, I’d probably sleep in until 11 every day. Most weekends I do!

There you have it!

Now I’m tagging Debbie (we co-presented a call on blogging for business last night), Paula, Beth Dargis and Jenn Givler

He’s still got it!

I was at Rod Stewart’s concert last night here in Johannesburg and…well… he’s still got it!

It was a FABULOUS concert – I swear he did ALL my favourites and it was SOOO great to sing along with an audience full of fans and not feel like you’re weird, you know?

Surprisingly (and I say so because usually things are a mess at gatherings of this magnitude) it was really well organised, everyone was orderly and we were able to get in and out of the venue with a minimum of fuss.

I was very impressed with him – his energy is unbelievable – and he really allows each of the band members and backup singers to shine. Of course, today Dion and I are still singing all the songs and reliving the experience :)

His 21-year-old daughter, Ruby, also sang a song. Wow – she’s good – a real chip off the old block and his son (looked to me to be around 4 years old) came on to “introduce” his sister with a bit of coaching from his dad. He’s such a proud father – it’s gorgeous to see. Or am I just soppy?

I also (literally) ran into an old friend who I haven’t seen for about 3 – 4 years.

Driving on the highway to the concert

The one pic we took before the show started

Anyway, that’s another item to cross off my life list! Now I still need to see Elton John and Billy Joel in concert.

Who do you want to see in concert?

I’m IT and I’m menu planning

I’ve been tagged by (if memory serves me correctly) 3 people – My Precious Pennies, Diane and I know there’s someone else???

Are you SURE you want to know my weirdnesses, people???

Here we go:

  1. I love singing along in my car (LOUD) and I really don’t care WHAT people think of me.
  2. Another love of mine besides handbags is Rod Stewart and guess what? He’ll be in Johannesburg in December so we are DEFINITELY going. I’ll also be able to cross another thing off my life list.
  3. I’m highly productive yet have no problems kicking back and TOTALLY relaxing. You’ll find me in bed until 11am most weekend mornings. I feel no shame whatsoever – in fact, I think I’m really blessed to be able to sleep, literally, like a baby!
  4. I’ve never had a pedicure.
  5. My favourite drink is water. Yes, really! And you can usually find me with an apple in my handbag.
  6. I seriously love talking about goals. I was talking about goals to anything that would stand still and listen YEARS before it became popular :)
  7. I am still utterly amazed by the internet. Every time I’m on a coaching call or teleseminar, I think “wow”. Here I am in Jhb talking to people ALL over the world. I really get a kick out of that.

Okay, now it’s my turn.

I tag Beth, Suzanne, Ariane, Megan, Janet, my wonder twin in computer organising, Laura and Laura Williams.

I had such a lot of lovely emails last week about posting links to older posts so I thought I’d do the same today.

Here are some posts to help you organise your blogging:

  1. Declutter your feed reader

Thanks for all your well wishes!
I had my op on Tuesday and it ended up being a bigger procedure than both the doctor and I had anticipated so instead of being released on Tuesday evening, I was only discharged yesterday.
Oh my word – I am SOOOO not made for hospitals :)
I finished my book early on Wednesday morning and then talked the ears off my neighbour, sent text messages to Dion and other friends, checked my Google Reader until my laptop died (they had no adaptor so I couldn’t plug in), watched TV, etc, etc.
I was on a clear liquids diet on Wednesday (apple juice and “soup” (salty water!)) and transitioned to a mixed liquids diet on Thursday (yoghurt, tropical fruit juice, Ensure nutritional drink, smoothies).
When Dion visited me on Wed pm, he brought the two-prong adaptor so on Thursday I was ONLINE and LOVING it :)
Cleared my Google Reader, replied to emails, sent email to my list, etc, etc. I also had lots of phone calls, three visitors and the beautiful bunch of flowers (see the picture above).
And then on Friday, I was discharged – yayyyyy – and left the warm hospital to an ice-cold and absolutely freezing Johannesburg. Brrrr!
I must say, the nurses, doctors and staff were all WONDERFUL but still, it is good to be home!

I’m back!

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

Hi everyone

I arrived back from holiday to an absolutely freezing Johannesburg this morning. When the pilot announced the ground temperature of 6 degrees Celsius (at 6am), I said to the lady next to me, “did he just say 6????” :)

Of course I do love the cold but I had forgotten that South African houses are not made for cold weather. So after catching up on sleep, Dion and I both had hot showers and I am now in my pajamas :) Dion is watching TV and I am about to do some internet banking (quite honestly, I’m a little bit surprised every time a transaction goes through because I haven’t transferred money into that card for weeks!

I’ve already done 3 loads of laundry (one while unpacking, one while sleeping, and another one is going right now), my work bag and more importantly, my lunch bag is packed! I have to get back to gym this week because I’ve definitely put on weight…

In a nutshell, we had a really good time connecting with old and new friends, I finally met Suzanne in Stirling, Scotland and Red Wine Gums in Cork, Ireland. We went to church with RWG – isn’t the power of the internet amazing?!

Of course, the UK and Ireland are SOOOOOOOOO expensive – I could hardly believe it. If any of you are thinking of visiting SA, do it! You will have such a wonderful holiday at really, really good prices!!!

And on this week’s menu…

Monday
Curry and rice with pumpkin (all in the freezer)

Tuesday
Baked potatoes with kidney bean and tomato sauce (also in freezer), topped with cheese

Wednesday
Stirfried chicken and veg in a satay sauce

Thursday
Pizzas (also in freezer :) )

Friday
Eating out

More importantly, how have you guys been doing?

And now, I’m going to phone my UK/ Ireland friends to tell them we’ve arrived safely. We had a really horrible eventful day travelling yesterday but I’ll tell you all about that on our travel blog… and of course, the organised Suzanne has already put her photos on Facebook…

I’m back!

Just checking in to say that I’m back and will post more tomorrow.
However, I thought I’d leave you with a few pictures – the view from my window on the ‘plane as we were descending into Jhb earlier this evening.

look at the gorgeous grey skies over the wing of the aircraft – these beautiful clouds unfortunately resulted in a fair bit of turbulence and I’m just getting over the queasiness now, two hours later

this view always makes me think of a patchwork quilt :)

And now, I’m off to make a mug of green tea, which I’ll drink while making my to-do list for tomorrow. Then I’m jumping into bed.

And yes, the draws for the 3 giveaways are already on my list!

Introducing…my beaded bookmarks

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

I’m so excited – I’ve started selling my beaded bookmarks over here. At the moment, they are all R40 each ($5.70) which includes shipping and handling. (South Africans pay R35 each)

They make great gifts that you can use in books, journals, planners, etc.

Here are a couple of examples but go here for the list as it now stands. I have to finish taking photos and uploading!

Woohoo!

I’d also like to thank…

Coach Jenny!
Guess what I got on Tuesday?

A birthday package from Coach Jenny, who’s a basketball coach, not a personal life coach like I am.

I loved the card, “I wish you joy, happiness and clearance shoes in your size.” Now doesn’t that make you smile? ;) And Jenny, Dion liked your message to him too!
She also sent me gorgeous hot pink monogrammed notecards (which are so pretty, I almost don’t want to use them. Almost), a lovely leather bookmark (which I’m using in my planner because it makes me happy) and a friends magnet (which I’m staring at right now – it’s attached to a photo frame on my desk).
Thanks again, Jenny. I love my stuff!

My favourite websites

Saturday, August 18th, 2007

Last week Monday I was tagged by Suzanne to tell you my favourite sites. I’ve waited nearly a whole week because I can’t think of 5! 5 blogs are easy but not 5 sites. So you’re going to get a mixture, Suzanne!

1. Google – my favourite search engine and of course, within the Google arena, Google Reader is my favourite.

2. Wikipedia – for looking up words

3. Blogger – to blog!!!

4. Flylady – where I learnt about control journals

5. The productivity pro – once I go in here, I can spend hours browsing and reading all her great articles

I’m going to tag
Laura – org junkie
Beth – encouraging coach
Corrie – web genius
