{Organising} CDs… for those of us who still use them

Happy 4th July to all my American readers! Enjoy the long weekend :)

This lovely pink suitcase holds my CDs in my car.

I used to have an even lovelier little box but that one was stolen WITH all the CDs a few years ago.

I really hope those thieves enjoy Praise and Worship, Air Supply and Rod Stewart :)

This is a bit of organising I really only get to when it’s driving me absolutely mad (4 – 6 times a year).

I exchange CDs, put them in the nearest box I can find, and when I’m filling up my car with petrol, I’ll do some organising.

However, it needs to be done a bit more thoroughly every now and again, otherwise the CDs and boxes are all mixed up, especially because I just bring a new CD or two to the car every week, so the craziness escalates.

I brought the box plus all the loose CDS into the house recently to sort out the mess.

The pile on the far end are all mismatched and I now need to track them down.

You’ll be happy to know I’m only missing one CD now.

I keep promising myself I’m going to be good … until the next time :)

Do you still use CDs?

Some people tell me I need to get some device to connect an ipod to my (old – 2005) car’s music system but I have an ipod that’s nearly as old (the ipod nano) and it doesn’t even have half my music on it.

For the moment, I’m happy to still be living in the “olden days”.

How do you organise your CDs… if you’re still living in the olden days like I am?

  1. I love CDs and will never stop buying them. I know that there are other ways of buying music but I haven’t bothered to explore them yet. I only really listen to CDs in my car and at work. My DH doesn’t buy CDs – he feels that they are a waste of money and he prefers music video dvds. This is what I tend to listen to when I’m in my home.

I remove the CD’s from the cd cover and I pack the cover away. The CD with the cover takes up too much space. Then I put the disk into a CD-flip-file thing. I’ll take a picture of it for you. It takes about 10 CDs – I must check. Then as soon as I am bored of the current set or when I buy new stuff, I put them back in their covers and decide which ones will go into the car next. I used to have a little suitcase like the one you have but it also took up too much space and I used to put the wrong cds into the cases because I was always doing it quickly at the robot or whatever.
I am planning to buy myself a record player later this year. With vinyls and everything. I am OBVIOUSLY more in the olden days than you!

  2. I do like Julia too and have a CD sleeve thing where i put all the CDs without th cover. Now that you mention it, I can’t find a gospel children’s CD I bought last yr.
